Servicing, fault-finding and repairs on Jeep, RAM, Dodge and Chrysler vehicles, on US imports and on LPG systems.

What you will work on

The dealership has sold Chrysler and Jeep since 1992, and Dodge and its own imports from the USA since 2002. Accordingly, many of these cars come through our workshop: from our own sales, but also cars that were bought elsewhere or imported by their owners. A RAM pickup, a Grand Cherokee or a Durango is nothing out of the ordinary here.

We also fit and maintain LPG systems, in a HEMI V8 just as in a smaller petrol engine. On top of that comes the usual workshop business: servicing, brakes, tyres, air-conditioning service and preparing cars for the HU, the German roadworthiness test.

What is different about US vehicles and LPG

A US model often differs from the European version of the same name, in the engine, exhaust system, lighting and electrics. That is why we order spare parts by vehicle identification number, not by model name. Oil and maintenance follow the schedule for the US version, which for many engines means a thin oil such as 0W-20. Four-wheel-drive Jeep and RAM models often have a transfer case and two differentials as well as the automatic gearbox, each with its own oil.

Many imports have been modified for German registration, for example their indicators, or have a retrofitted rear fog light. After a repair the car must again match its approved condition. If a US vehicle gets new wheels, they need tyre pressure sensors that transmit on its frequency.

Before an LPG conversion the engine is checked, from the mileage and the fault memory to the ignition system. After installation the system is tuned on the road before an inspector approves it. Later on, the jobs are gas filters, leak-free lines and spark plugs and, before every HU, preparing for the gas system inspection.

What the usual workshop business involves:

  • Servicing to manufacturer specifications, recorded in the service book
  • Reading the fault memory, finding and repairing faults, from the alternator to the sensor
  • Preparing for the HU and the AU emissions test, including the work needed
  • Brakes: pads, discs and brake fluid, on heavy pickups too
  • Changing and balancing tyres, tyre pressure sensors
  • Air-conditioning service: refrigerant, leak testing, disinfection
  • Seasonal checks in spring, before winter and before the holiday season
