From servicing to paintwork
Maintenance covers servicing to the manufacturer’s schedule and the seasonal checks in spring, before winter and before your holiday. For the HU and AU, the German roadworthiness and emissions test, we prepare your car and arrange the appointment. The test itself is carried out by an inspector from a recognised testing organisation, and we take care of any work that is needed.
On top of that come brakes, tyres including storage, and the air conditioning. After an accident we handle bodywork and paint, and after a stone chip the windscreen. Whatever breaks in between, from the alternator to a sensor, is dealt with by our repair service. We order genuine parts to match the vehicle. And if the car should be clean again inside and out, there is car care.
American vehicles
The dealership was founded in 1992 with Chrysler and Jeep; Dodge and vehicles from our own US imports followed in 2002. Today the focus is on Jeep, RAM, Dodge and Chrysler. A large pickup weighs considerably more than a mid-size car, and the brakes, tyres and suspension feel it. More on this under workshop for US vehicles and US cars.
LPG systems
We install and maintain LPG systems, in a V8 just as in a smaller petrol car. Whether a conversion makes sense depends mainly on the engine’s fuel injection and on how far you drive; we look at both beforehand. If a car runs on LPG, an inspection of the gas system is part of the HU. Everything else is under LPG systems.
Other makes
If you drive a make that does not come from the USA, talk to us before booking; we will then clarify what we can take on for your car.
Appointments and opening hours
The workshop is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 17:00. The easiest way to book an appointment is by e-mail to info@autohausfritz.com; calling +49 34604 348-0 works too. You can reach us in English by phone and e-mail. How to find us from the A14 is described under contact.
What customers often ask
Is the workshop open on Saturdays?
No, the workshop is closed on Saturdays. Only the sales department is open then, from 9:00 to 12:00.
How can I tell that my car needs to go to the workshop?
Persistent squealing or grinding when braking, a shaking steering wheel, stains under the parked car or a smell of hot oil are clear signs. If you notice any of these, do not wait until the next service.
What does a red warning light on the dashboard mean?
Red lights usually warn of faults where you should stop as soon as it is safe to do so, for example oil pressure, the braking system or engine temperature. Yellow or orange lights usually mean: have it checked soon. The exact meaning is given in the owner’s manual.
How do I check the oil level myself?
On level ground and as described in the owner’s manual: with some engines cold, with others a few minutes after switching off. The level must be between the two marks on the dipstick. Many newer cars no longer have a dipstick and show the oil level in the on-board computer.
