Inside and out
On the outside it is about the paint, wheels, windows and seals. Insects, bird droppings and tree sap attack the paint if they sit in the sun for a long time; scratches that go through the clear coat are a job for paintwork. Inside, there are the seats, carpets, plastics and the greasy film on the windows that dazzles you when driving into the light. On a pickup, the load bed is part of the care too.
After the winter
Road salt collects on the underbody, in the wheel arches and in seams, and together with moisture it promotes rust. Inside, white salt marks remain on carpets and mats, and the moisture in them makes the windows mist up. Salt and moisture should therefore be removed thoroughly in spring, outside and inside.
Before selling
Buyers judge the rest of the car by its interior: stains, ash or dog hair suggest that maintenance was skimped on too. Valeting shows the car’s actual condition without the dirt of everyday use. Also have the service book, invoices and the report from the last roadworthiness test (HU) ready.

What customers often ask
What is the difference between a car wash and valeting?
A wash cleans the outside of the car. Valeting also takes care of the interior and the details, from the upholstery to the seals.
How often should I have my car valeted?
There is no fixed rule. For most cars, a thorough valet in spring and, if needed, before the wet season in autumn is enough; in between, a normal wash will do.
Can smells in the interior be removed?
Often yes, once the cause has been found, such as wet mats or spilled drinks. The smell of smoke sits in the upholstery, headlining and ventilation and can often only be reduced. If a musty smell comes from the air vents, that is a job for the air-conditioning service.
